Proudler to Olswangs

TOP defamation lawyer Geraldine Proudler has resigned from Lovell White Durrant to join Simon Olswang & Co.

She remains at Lovells while discussions continue about her notice period.

A spokeswoman for Olswangs says: "This will enhance the expansion of our media litigation practice." Olswangs recruited David Zeffman and his team from Frere Cholmeley Bischoff earlier this year. They were joined by telecomms lawyer Kim Nicholson and Alex Maitland-Hudson from Withers.

Proudler says: "I believe that there is greater scope for developing and widening my defamation practice and other media work in a firm with a strong media practice."

She is moving to a broader media practice. Lovells concentrates on print media.

Lovells' joint managing partner Charles Dodson says: "I would prefer that she hadn't decided to go and obviously we don't let partners go without making efforts to persuade them to stay.

"But she feels that her career as a defamation lawyer would be better advanced in a firm which concentrates on defamation as a specialism rather than as one part of a comprehensive service."
