Proskauer Rose has hired a corporate duo for its Hong Kong office, increasing the firm’s partner count in the city to six.
Seung Chong and Jeremy Leifer, who were both partners at White & Case, advise Chinese and foreign clients on M&A deals.
Chong moved to Hong Kong in 1993 after studying in the UK and spent four years in Beijing. He has advised key clients Ping An Insurance and TPV Technology on bollion-dollar transactions, and has expertise in capital markets.
Leifer, who is English and Hong Kong-qualified, specialises in corporate, M&A and corporate finance.
Ronald Papa, the firm’s corporate chair in New York, said: “Our expansion in Asia not only gives our clients based and doing business in the region access to the full complement of corporate capabilities and top-notch practitioners, but supports our core M&A, finance, capital markets and private equity offerings around the world.”
Proskauer has one of counsel in Hong Kong to complement the six partners.
Earlier in the year the office hired DLA Piper capital markets partner Gene Buttrill, and snatched Ropes & Gray associate Jay Tai for the corporate team as senior counsel.
