PROPERTY partners Peter Welburn and Paul Springall are joining Howard Kennedy from Holman Fenwick & Willan.
Welburn, who heads the department at London-based Holman Fenwick, and Springall will join Howard Kennedy's property team at the start of next year.
The department comprises about 17 fee earners.
Howard Kennedy's managing partner, Trevor Newey, says the moves are consistent with the firm's current drive towards creating an international client base.
He points to the recent recruitment of ADR expert Eileen Carroll from Turner Kenneth Brown as a further example.
Holman Fenwick senior partner Archie Bishop says he already has a replacement lined up for his head of department but, for reasons of confidentiality, is not yet able to disclose the name of the person who is to join the firm.
He adds that he believes the two partners are leaving because they feel they can develop their practice within a more specialist property firm.
"There is a lot of movement within the big City firms these days," he says.
"We have got other partners joining us, not just on the property side, but in other areas."
