Personal injury outfit Prolegal, which was established in 2004 by former Reid Minty partner Simon Edwards, is new to The Lawyer UK 200 Annual Report.
Turnover (£m): 8
RPL (£k): 1,000
The business, which turned over £8m last year, is currently structured as a company with just two partners, Edwards and professional negligence group leader Susan Brown, at its head. There is also an operational board and a series of non-partner department heads running the specialist teams populated by its eight qualified lawyers and 20 fee-earners. These include family and matrimonial specialist Jonathan West and employment lawyer Adrian Hoggarth, who joined during the year from Norton Rose, where he was a senior associate.
Next year Prolegal plans to take advantage of the advent of alternative business structures by introducing a series of LLPs beneath its top corporate level. The result will see the current department heads become partners, with each responsible for their own LLP, under the corporate umbrella.
