South-West firms Clarke Willmott, Foot Anstey Sargent and TLT Solicitors have all reported improved profitability in their latest financial results.
Billings at Clarke Willmott grew by 22 per cent to £26.7m in 2003-04, with average profits per partner (PPP) of £178,000, up from £138,000 in the previous 12 months.
Clarke Willmott managing partner David Sedgwick attributed the rise to a sector-based strategy and investment in dispute resolution.
Meanwhile, Foot Anstey Sargent reported a modest turnover increase to £10.6m from £10.4m in the previous year. Average PPP rose by 8 per cent to £155,000.
Turnover at Bristol’s most aggressive player, TLT Solicitors, rose 11 per cent to £17.5m. PPP at the 38-partner firm has risen 25.7 per cent to £220,000. The number of lawyers at the firm grew 15 per cent on last year.
