  • Wouldn't you be thrown a lifeline from the ship rescuing you in the above metaphor? Hence, you wouldn't have D&L's name on the ring.

Hang on, better put this here just in case - #justsaying

  • Well former Dewey head Peter Sharp and Dewey HR have worked with the Law Soc to reposition the trainees - so seems kind of appropriate their name is on the ring!!!
Unless they had somehow squeezed how ever many firm names on - wouldn't have looked as good...

  • I may have been hasty here. I shall away to the Pedant Cave to brood on my impetuous behaviour.

  • "Profession throws a lifeline" makes it sound a little too charitable when what will be at the foremost of the recruiters minds will be the fact that most of these trainees will simply be better because they've already had [a number of] months experience as a trainee at Dewey's risk.

Lets not kid ourselves, these people will not be recruited out of some sense of "duty" that the profession has; they are just fortunate that business sense is on their side.
