Prof neg silk takes tenancy at 4 New Square

Construction and professional negligence silk David Sears QC is to take up tenancy at 4 New Square from next week.

Sears, who has been a member of Atkin Chambers since 2007, took silk in 2003.  He said: “It’s been a hard decision to leave Atkin Chambers, but I believe that the variety of work at 4 New Square is better suited to the full range of my interests and abilities.”

Head of chambers Jeremy Stuart-Smith QC said the addition of Sears would boost the set’s profile in construction law, an area it is “committed to growing”.

Sears’ arrival comes just after long-standing 4 New Square barrister Bernard Livesey QC defected to Hailsham Chambers (11 June 2010).

Livesey’s departure was the first since 4 New Square successfully defended a race discrimination case from barrister Aisha Bjlani (3 March 2010).
