Pro-bono charity launches online legal dictionary written by CoL students

Put together by students at the College of Law, the online glossary aims to simplify terms for students and non-native speakers.

London-based A4ID brokers pro-bono advice for development organisations, using legal skills to aid progress and fight poverty and achieve the United Nations’ Millennium Development Goals.

Chara de Lacey, head of learning at A4ID, said: “Law interlinks with development and many goals can be helped significantly by legal frameworks, especially the rule of law, which work and are accessible to the general public.

“Many students support us by following our work and attending our training events. Ultimately, we want to engage students in pro bono at an early stage in their legal careers.”

The charity provides free training events and publishes reports written by development experts and legal guides from partner firms.

The launch follows news that UEA students are undertaking pro bono work at a local law clinic (25 July 2012).
