Presidential runners line up for YSG hustings

THE YOUNG Solicitors' Group has made its mark on the Law Society's election campaign by calling a presidential hustings.

The group's national committee has invited candidates for the positions of president and vice-president of the

solicitors' profession to take the platform in order to

answer questions posed on behalf of YSG members.

Taking place at the Law Society on 9 June, the hustings is aimed at allowing the profession's younger contingent to form its own opinion about the election runners.

Current deputy vice-president Henry Hodge has agreed to attend, together with Martin Mears and his running mate Robert Sayers, Eileen Pembridge and John Aucott, who is running for vice-

president.

YSG chair Andy Unger has already declared his personal support for Hodge and is involved in work for his campaign team.

With his vote already cast, Unger has deferred control of the meeting to vice-chair Lucy Winskell.

Unger says the group is not supporting individual candidates but it is encouraging members to discover the

issues raised in each contender's manifesto and to exercise their vote.

"These issues are too important to be decided by

indifference," says Unger.

"All our members should use their vote."
