Prat, Jean-François – Hot 100

Jean-François Prat is one of the Paris market’s elder statesmen, responsible for the continued strength of the firm that bears his name, Bredin Prat.

Not content with a 10 per cent rise in turnover for 2003, the firm quietly beavered away over the first half of 2004 to come eighth in the European M&A league table. Bredin Prat partners won roles on some of France’s largest transactions, including the recently-announced e1.25bn (£860m) merger of Sagem and Snecma.

Prat himself advised Aventis on its e53bn (£36.6bn) acquisition by Sanofi at the beginning of 2004, the work surely boosting the firm’s hopes of being retained as the merged company’s principal adviser.

To finish off the year in style, in November Prat was elected, by a majority of 500 votes, to the Paris Bar Council. This highly respected senior partner remains one of France’s leading lawyers.
