Planning and environment

Excellent client service, superb technical ability and invaluable practical experience: these are key qualities that define the Planning & Environment Team at Walker Morris.

The team has dealt with around 30 planning appeals in the last two years, dealing with varied sectors such as waste/renewables, motorway services, residential projects and retail schemes. Working regularly at the coal face places the team in a unique position to understand and effectively address the ever-changing challenges of the planning system.

In both planning and environment law, the team has the ability to manage cases from ‘cradle to grave’, providing an effective ‘one-stop shop’ for strategic advice and advocacy services, and is recognised for its formidable advocacy skills. Undertaking our own advocacy at public inquiries is a key skill that strengthens the depth of our expertise and sets us aside from other teams of planning lawyers.

The team has real strength of numbers to help co-ordinate planning applications and deal with contentious matters at the planning appeal or call-in stage, including our own Chartered Town Planning Team, which provides key services on the preparation, submission and negotiation of planning applications on a diverse range of development projects.

Our involvement in CPO and lands tribunal matters (including advocacy at both) and judicial review, including significant Court of Appeal successes, provides a complete skill set for all aspects of work.
