Clifford Chance has confirmed the re-election of senior partner Stuart Popham for his second four-year term, which will see him at the helm until 2010.
As reported in The Lawyer (18 September), the nomination period for the senior partner election yielded no other candidates, and Popham stood alone for the formal vote.
Popham, a former global head of the finance practice who joined the firm in 1976, became senior partner in 2002 after a bruising election between six contestants.
As revealed by The Lawyer in July, the senior partner vote is the first of a series of management elections, including regional and department heads as well as elections to the partnership council.
In a statement, Popham said: “It is an honour to continue in this role for a further four years, and I am delighted to do so. I look forward to working with all partners to maintain and develop our success and build on what we have achieved across our global network.”
