Dissolution of Hill & Barlow profits Piper Rudnick with 33 lawyers
Expansionist US firm Piper Rudnick has now cracked the Boston market after taking on 33 lawyers from the recently dissolved Hill & Barlow to open an office in the region. The haul, which includes 17 partners, means the firm has built up its real estate, litigation and energy groups. Piper Rudnick also recently announced that it will award its New York associates between $10,000 and $45,000 in bonuses for 2002. Those lawyers who billed between 2,100 and 2,400 hours will also gain higher bonuses based on merit. Just last September the firm announced a merger with Washingtons Verner Liipfert McPherson & Hand.
