PINSENT Masons is hiring a team of six lawyers that together form the bulk of the life sciences boutique Roiter Zucker.
Equity partner Clare Tunstall will join the equity at Pinsents, bringing senior associates Anna Feros and David Bloom and three associates with her. They start on 1 June and are expected to contribute a book of business in excess of £2m.
Pinsents head of outsourcing, technology and commercial Clive Seddon said that the decision to hire the lawyers was threefold. “First, we don’t have any patent litigation capability in London; second [Tunstall] is bringing her clients over, and third, the team has expertise in generics and life sciences,” he commented.
This comes as the Roiter Zucker partnership is to be dissolved, with name partners Warren Roiter and John Zucker moving onto other opportunities.
Roiter is leaving the law, while Zucker is expected to move to another firm. Clients that will be serviced by Pinsents include Israeli generic drugs producer Teva.
“[Tunstall’s] looking to support her clients as they grow in emerging markets,” said Seddon. “[Pinsents alliance firm] Salans has a very strong life sciences practice, in France especially. We’d look to link her with the Salans network.”
Turnstall said: “I’m looking forward to joining Pinsent Masons and to being part of a larger firm that can provide the full range of services required by our clients, [as well as] the new opportunities for the team to provide enhanced patent expertise to Pinsent Masons’ existing clients.”
