Pinsents retains AIM crown with greatest number of clients

Pinsent Masons has retained its place at the top of Hemscott’s quarterly AIM rankings, maintaining the greatest number of AIM clients in the final quarter of 2009.

LG, which briefly usurped rival Pinsents at the head of the rankings in May 2009, has maintained its lead as adviser to the largest number of companies among the AIM 100.

Pinsents lost only one client listed on the junior market during the last quarter of 2009, with its total of 55 keeping it clear of LG’s 51 clients. Third place DLA Piper saw its number of clients fall from 47 to 44.

Halliwells was the biggest faller among the top 20, slipping from 11th to 18th place and losing seven of its 31 clients in the process.

Only three of the top 20 AIM advisers - Carey Olsen, Nabarro and Travers Smith - gained AIM clients during the last quarter. Of these, only Nabarro acquired more than one extra client, seeing its figure rise from 30 to 33.

LG is named as adviser to nine of the AIM 100 companies, with no other firm listed as acting for more than five. DLA Piper and Norton Rose are locked together in second place, both with five clients, up one from quarter three.

In terms of market capitalisation, LG leads the way on both the full list and the top 100. The market capitalisation of the firm’s clients was more than double that of second-placed DLA Piper.

  • The first paragraph of this article is plainly wrong:
