Pinsent Curtis Biddle is relocating its national head of dispute resolution and litigation Nigel Kissack from Leeds to London in a bid to increase its penetration into the City’s financial litigation market.
Kissack’s move represents a major push by Pinsents towards financial and capital markets disputes. Until now, the firm’s litigation department has focused largely on the manufacturing and distribution sectors.
Around £4m of its £11m annual litigation turnover already comes from London clients. Kissack said the firm, which has a European turnover of £95.1m, is a heavy user of the High Court.
Pinsents claims the move comes partly on the back of success with its ‘reaching solutions’ project, in which clients are informed of costs, time and the risks involved in litigation soon after they instruct the firm.
Kissack said: “We want to strengthen our financial regulatory practice and build contacts among banks, investment houses and private equity houses.”
Pinsents’ litigation clients include Vodafone and Thistle Hotels.
