Pinsent Masons has been appointed as the university’s principal legal adviser after participating in a tender process against five other firms.
The win follows a string of other successes for Pinsent Masons’ universities group, which resulted in the firm winning Exeter, Loughborough and City universities as new clients in the past year.
Pinsent Masons’ universities group leader Nicola Hart led the pitch for Liverpool University. The highly-rated former Martineau Johnson partner joined the legacy Pinsents in January 2004 after seven months’ gardening leave.
Hart’s team also won Plymouth University and King’s College London as clients last year.
Commenting on Pinsent Masons’ appointment, the Liverpool University chief operating officer said: “We have a new senior management team at Liverpool and we look forward to forging a deep and mutually beneficial relationship with Pinsent Masons.”
The firm will handle a broard range of work for the University of Liverpool, including corporate, property, employment and IP. It will also advise the university on constitutional and governance issues. DLA declined to comment.
