Smith will head the public procurement team at Pinsents and brings the number of lawyers advising on procurement at the firm to 12, making it one of the UK's largest public procurement teams.
Smith has worked at Bristol-headquartered Bevan Brittan's Birmingham office and will remain in that city at Pinsents' local base.
Her experience includes advising on the procurement strategy for the Building Schools for the Future programme and she is understood to be an expert in 'competitive dialogue'. She has extensive expertise in the health, waste and housing sectors.
Pinsents managing partner David Ryan said the firm is planning further expansion of the group, including further partner hires in coming weeks.
