Pinsents, 39 Essex St join EON litigation list

The Germany-headquartered energy giant’s UK ­general counsel and company secretary Fiona Stark oversaw the appointments after asking regular advisers for suggestions on better ways of working with EON.

EON has historically had informal relationships with its firms, but a legal department spokeswoman said the appointments were the start of a new way of looking at tendering and the way advisers are appointed.

Other firms understood to work regularly with EON include Eversheds, Freeth Cartwright and Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer on corporate matters, Hogan Lovells and Lewis Silkin on advertising and Norton Rose and Wragge & Co on employment.

As a partner close to the EON work said: “For an organisation the size of EON, it’s unusual that they haven’t had more panels in place.”

The company is believed to have arrangements in place with firms to cover practice areas including property, regulatory and high-volume energy work.

Other areas of work for EON and its advisers include customer litigation, contracts, insourcing, outsourcing and advertising.
