Pillsbury hires AIG GC

Pillsbury Winthrop Shaw Pittman has hired the general counsel of insurance giant American International Group as head of its financial services regulatory practice in New York.

Ernest Patrikis has headed up AIG’s 460-lawyer team since 1999, stearing the group through charges brought by Attorney General Eliot Spitzer and the Securities and Exchange Commission.

“Ernie Patrikis has held one of the hottest seats in the legal profession the past few years,” said Michael Schumaecker, head of Pillsbury’s finance practice.

Pillsbury has been steadily building its regulatory and securities compliance practice, hiring ex-SEC enforcement lawyer Jeffrey Zuckerman from Morgan Stanley in February.
