Phillips Fox Vietnam shuns DLA Piper tie-up

Phillips Fox's partnership has split over the firm's tie-up with DLA Piper, with the Australian firm's Vietnam offices deciding not to join the international firm's network.

Nigel Russell, joint managing partner of Phillips Fox Vietnam, confirmed that the firm's offices in Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi would not join the DLA Piper network alongside the firm's eight Australian and New Zealand offices.

As first revealed on www.thelawyer.com (15 June), Phillips Fox will rebrand as DLA Phillips Fox and become a formal member of the DLA Piper group later this year. The alliance follows a longstanding referral agreement between the firms.

Russell would not rule out the Vietnam operations joining the network in the future, but stated that they were no longer in formal discussions.
