Peter Rook QC has today (1 July) taken over as chairman of the Criminal Bar Association. Previously the vice-chairman, Rook succeeds Bruce Houlder QC. Rook vowed to support the modernisation of the criminal justice system while also defending its basic freedoms. "It is the responsibility of all those agencies who work in the criminal justice system to cooperate to make it serve justice and the public better," he said.
