•Essex Court Chambers has hired international law specialist Professor Campbell McLachlan as a door tenant. McLachlan joins from Victoria University in New Zealand, where he was a professor of law. He is also an associatemember of Bankside Chambers.
•London-based Fox, a new specialist employment and partnership law firm, has appointed Michelle Chance from City-based firm Fox Williams as a corporate senior associate. Chance previously worked alongside Fox founder Ronnie Fox, who left Fox Williams last year to start up the new firm.
•Martineau Johnson has promoted five solicitors to associate level. They are Pia Brosinovich, Liz Deacon, Andrew Holden, Hanna Ihsan and Mark Jones.
•McGrigors has hired Mark McCall and Rodney Whyte as associates for its Aberdeen real estate team. McCall was hired from the Aberdeen office of Aberdein Considine & Company, while Whyte joins from Banff-based Stewart & Watson.
•Leeds-based Lee & Priestley has appointed commercial property solicitor Harinder Sian from local rival Ison Harrison.
•Birmingham-based firm Putsmans Solicitors has hired commercial property associate Tim Clark from Cobbetts.
•Sheppard Mullin Richter & Hampton has appointed Jennifer Redmond as a partner in its San Francisco employment group. Redmond joins from the San Francisco office of Bingham McCutchen.
•Semple Fraser has beefed up its commercial property team with the hire of associates John Mitchell and Lindsey Pollard. Mitchell joins the Glasgow office from Maclay Murray & Spens, while Pollard joins the Edinburgh office from DLA Piper.
•New York-based global pharmaceutical company Bristol-Myers Squibb has appointed Sandra Leung as senior vice-president and general counsel. Leung, who has been acting in the role since September 2006, started at the company in 1992 as a litigation solicitor.
•Dewey Ballantine has appointed Joseph Smith as chair of its New York private equity group.
•Bevan Brittan has promoted Clive Scott-Green to head its IT practice. Scott-Green, who has spent five years as the firm's IT services manager, previously worked at Zurich Financial Services.
