Phillip Palmer has been appointed partnership director at Collyer Bristow following the departure of Jackie Reiss, who held the role for the past five years.

Palmer will be responsible for operational management as well as driving the firm’s strategy. He joins from Clifford Chance, where he was executive partner and global chief operating officer. Palmer said: “I’m looking forward to working together to meet the challenges and opportunities of the changing domestic and international legal services marketplaces.”
Faegre & Benson has announced the appointment of Mary Shields, who joins as an associate in the corporate practice. Shields comes from Dawsons, where she trained and later became an assistant solicitor.
Pensions firm Sacker & Partners has promoted Eleanor Daplyn and Stuart O’Brien
to partner. Both joined Sackers in 2003.
Reynolds Porter Chamberlain has increased its real estate group with three new hires: Jonathan Northey joins as a senior associate from Bevan Brittan, where he held the same position in the property team, while Meena Oduru and Kajal Bilakhia both join as associates. Oduru comes from Linklaters and is nearly one-year PQE, having qualified into the firm’s banking department. Bilakhia is currently a trainee solicitor at SNR Denton and is due to qualify in September.
Prolegal has announced the recruitment of Adrian Hoggarth to head its employment team. Hoggarth joins from Norton Rose, where he was a senior associate.
Alan Bacarese has joined Peters & Peters as a full-time special counsel. He was previously legal head at the International Centre for Asset Recovery in Switzerland.
Morgan Cole has strengthened its professional risk team with the appointment
of two new solicitors. Zoë Perry joins from Bond Pearce in Bristol, while Abigail Havard will qualify in September, having completed her law degree and LPC. She trained with the Reading office of Morgan Cole.
Blandy & Blandy has announced the appointment of Siobhan Baillie, who joins the firm’s family team as a solicitor. She arrives from Pitmans, where she was also a solicitor.
BPE has bagged a new head of debt recovery in the form of Simon Marks. He joins from Morgan Cole, where he was recoveries manager.
Battens has announced the appointment of Dawn Gallie to head its employment team. Gallie joins the firm from Stones, where she was an assistant solicitor within the firm’s employment team.
Leeds-based Shulmans has recruited Dawn Carlisle as a senior lawyer in its commercial property practice. She joins from Gordons,
where she held the same position in the property development team.
Williamsons has hired local lawyer John Harrison to deal with the firm’s general practice and family law and criminal caseloads. He joins from Brooke Williams, where he completed his training contract.
Manchester-based JMW has bulked up its employment team with three appointments. Claire Deane joins as a solicitor, having previously been with DLA Piper, while Louise Bennett comes from Russell Jones & Walker, where she held the post of legal advice team leader. Rachael Frankland, meanwhile, completed her LPC this summer and joins as a paralegal.
Gillespie Macandrew has welcomed two new lawyers to its housebuilder team in Edinburgh. Harry Smith was previously head of Morisons’ builders unit and has been appointed as lead partner of the housebuilder team. Alan Minty, who was a partner at Morisons, joins as an associate.
Collas Crill’s property law team has been boosted by the recruitment of a new partner in its Jersey office. Solicitor Martin Le Boutillier has joined the firm from Ogier, where he was managing associate in the firm’s property team.
UK Supreme Court Justice Lord Collins is to join the Panel of Recognised International Market Experts in Finance Foundation, the new body committed to providing a service to settle disputes in the world’s financial markets. Collins will join the panel, which is based in The Hague, as a dispute settlement expert when he steps down from his remaining duties at the Supreme Court.
Hassans has announced that senior associates Richard Buttigieg, Abigail Harrison and Raquel Moss have joined the firm’s partnership. Moss arrived at Hassans in 2002, while Buttigieg and Harrison joined in 2003.
Curtis Mallet-Prevost Colt & Mosle has recruited Nouraddin Ahmed as a partner in its Dubai office. He was previously a partner with Al Jallaf & Co in Dubai.
Berwin Leighton Paisner has announced the arrival of Richard Davies, who joins the firm’s Abu Dhabi-based Middle East and North Africa team as a partner. He comes from Linklaters, where he was an associate.
Epstein Becker Green has hired Arthur Fried into its New York-based healthcare and life sciences practice as a partner. Fried was previously general counsel and senior vice-president for legal and regulatory affairs at Staten Island University Hospital.
The Dallas office of K&L Gates has welcomed Steve Korotash as a partner in the firm’s government enforcement practice. He joins from the US Securities and Exchange Commission.
Reed Smith has announced the addition of four partners from DLA Piper to its capital markets and M&A practices within the corporate and securities group. Yvan-Claude Pierre, William Haddad and Daniel Goldberg join the firm’s New York office, while the San Francisco office welcomes Garth Osterman.
