LONDON

Michael Gregory has joined Silverman ­Sherliker as an associate. He was previously head of family law at Ronald Fletcher Baker.

He deals with a variety of family work, including the financial aspects of divorce, relationship ­breakdown and prenuptial agreements. 

Morgan Lewis has announced that Susan Quint, who served as group legal director and company secretary for British Nuclear Fuels, has joined the firm as a partner in its energy practice, resident in London. Quint has more than 20 years of nuclear industry experience in the UK, Europe and the US.

Midlands

Ansons Solicitors has hired residential ­property solicitor David Williams to head the team in Cannock. Williams has specialised in ­residential conveyancing for 12 years and joins the firm from Adcocks Solicitors, where he was a senior associate in the private client department.

Rogers & Norton is continuing its planned expansion programme with the appointment of two new partners, Peter Hastings and Steve Clarke. Hastings joins the firm after nine years at Steeles, where he was head of the commercial litigation department. Clarke has been with Rogers & Norton for four years, working with the conveyancing team, and becomes the firm’s first non-solicitor partner.

North West

Edward Coulson is joining Davies Arnold Coopers’ insurance group as a partner. Coulson, who will be based in Manchester, specialises in professional indemnity and will head the ­insurance team in the city, working closely with the firm’s London office. He joins the firm from Robin Simon, where he was a partner.

Halliwells has appointed Sydney Fulda as a commercial litigation partner. Fulda, currently an equity partner and head of dispute resolution at Berg Legal in Manchester, will also become a member of Halliwells’ commercial litigation board when he joins the firm.

Wales

Solicitor Paul Kinsella has joined Armstrongs Solicitors to work in the firm’s commercial department. He joins from Cardiff-based Mooneerams Solicitors, where he had five years’ litigation experience. He has ­expertise in both claimant and defendant ­litigation and ­clinical and professional ­negligence matters.

Scotland

Maclay Murray & Spens has announced that banking partner Robert Laing is to succeed Philip Skerrett as chairman when Skerrett’s three-year term comes to an end on 1 June. Laing has been with the firm for 27 years. ­Skerrett joined Maclay in 2004 as part of its ­merger with boutique financial services practice The City Law Partnership, where he was a ­senior partner, before being named chairman

in 2007. He will remain with the firm as a ­consultant after his chairmanship has ended.

Morton Fraser has announced that Tony Byrne has joined the firm’s Glasgow office as a senior associate after 11 years as a specialist ­corporate lawyer with Dickson Minto. He has experience in both the corporate and corporate finance fields.

Europe

Mayer Brown’s Paris office has taken on ­competition and distribution lawyer Nathalie ­Jalabert-Doury as a partner. Prior to joining Mayer Brown she was a partner for five years at Carreras ­Barsikian Robertson & Associés. She has ­experience in all aspects of competition law, both in France and the EU.

Bulboaca & Associates has announced the appointment of Razvan Stoicescu to partner from associate. He has experience in capital markets and the financial and banking sector. This increases the number of partners at the firm to six.

Reed Smith has hired partners Nicolas Sauvage and Caroline Masson to launch its employment practice in Paris. The pair join from French law firm Courtois Lebel and bring with them a team of four associates comprising Stéfanie Oudard, Mélanie Race, Nathalie ­Marchand and Fernando Teixeira, as well as legal counsel Michaela McCormack.

Fried Frank Harris Shriver & Jacobson has announced that Noam Ankri and Olivier Genicot have been promoted to European ­counsel They are both part of the firm’s Paris corporate practice.

Asia and Middle East

White & Case has promoted bank finance and restructuring counsel Baldwin Cheng to local ­partner. Cheng will relocate from the firm’s Hong Kong office to Beijing in May. He has a ­background in international bank finance and restructuring and insolvency ­matters.

US

Covington & Burling has announced that Scott Macey, former senior vice-president

and director of government affairs at Aon ­Consulting, has joined the firm’s employee ­benefits and executive compensation practice group as of counsel. He will be resident in the firm’s Washington DC office.
