  • Silverman Sherliker has hired Maeve O’Higgins as its new head of family law. O’Higgins joins from Edward Fail Bradshaw & Waterston.

  • McDermott Will & Emery has hired Stephan Rau as a partner in its international healthcare practice. Rau joins the Munich office from Gibson Dunn & Crutcher. McDermott has also hired Andrea Helfrich as an associate in Munich from Heisse Kursawe.
  • Burt Brill & Cardens has hired Steven Heller as an executive in its private client team and Jonathan Friend as assistant in its Brighton office. Heller previously worked for the US Citizenship and Immigration Services office in Washington DC and was a supervising attorney with the New York Association for New Americans in New York. Friend joins from Beviss & Beckingsale in Honiton.

  • Elliot Mather Solicitors has promoted Fred Parkinson to its partnership. Parkinson joined the firm in 2004 as the head of the elder law and probate department.

  • Fulbright & Jaworski has hired Scott Schwind as an energy partner in its Houston office. Schwind joins from Baker & McKenzie.

  • Oostvogels Pfister Roemers has hired Jean-François Trapp as head of the finance group. Trapp joins from Noble & Scheidecker, where he was a partner.

  • US firm Haynes and Boone has hired David Epstein as of counsel in its Dallas office. Epstein, who will work at the firm one day a week, is a bankruptcy law professor at Southern Methodist University’s Dedman School of Law.

  • Shepherd & Wedderburn has hired Caroline Cumming as a commercial property associate in its Aberdeen office. Cumming, who will head the firm’s North East property team, joins from Ledingham Chalmers‘ Inverness office.

  • Akin Gump Strauss Hauer & Feld has taken on Harvard professor Laurence Tribe as a consultant. Tribe will consult with the firm and its clients principally on constitutional and Supreme Court matters.

  • Lancashire-based Haworth & Nuttall has brought in Shahin Akhtar as a solicitor in its commercial law group. Akhtar joins from Leigh-based Dootsons Solicitors.
