  • Bircham Dyson Bell has hired Rod Meade as finance director. Meade joined the firm last November from Allen & Overy, where he was business operations manager for the global tax and US law group.

  • US gaming operator Nevada Gold & Casinos has appointed Ernest East as its general counsel, chief compliance officer and senior vice-president. East joins from Global Trust Management, where he was chief legal officer.

  • Michelmores has promoted commercial property specialist Emma Honey to its partnership. Honey joined the firm in 2000 from Nabarro Nathanson.

  • Miller Rosenfalck has hired Sebastien Oddos as an associate in its commercial team and French desk. Oddos joins from the International Law Partnership, where he was an associate.

  • Dawsons has promoted two solicitors to its partnership. Harender Dahia becomes a partner in the corporate team and Amanda Nelson in the private client group.

  • Browne Jacobson has hired construction partner Shaun Tame in its Birmingham office. Tame joins from Pinsent Masons, where he was a senior associate and head of the Birmingham non-contentious construction team.

  • The Birmingham Law Society has appointed its first chief executive, Paul Farrow. The role has been created in response to the shake-up of the legal profession anticipated by the Legal Services Bill.

  • Coley & Tilley has hired Christopher Lloyd-Smith as a solicitor in its private client team. Lloyd-Smith joins from Challinors, where he qualified in September 2004, specialising in family law.

  • Davies Arnold Cooper has appointed Rowan Planterose as its managing partner, effective from 2 January. He replaces David Hertzell, who stood down after 14 years in the role.

  • French firm Veil Jourde has launched a real estate practice, raiding White & Case for three lawyers. Litigation partner Emmanuel Rosenfeld is leading the move, taking associate Christophe Bouchez and of counsel Véronique Prévôt-Leygonie, who joins as a partner.

  • Jones Day has made up 45 partners from its global associate ranks. The London office garnered four new partners, in competition, M&A, private equity and tax. They are Lisa Anderson, Leon Ferera, Neil Ferguson and Jarleth Burke.
