  • Black Country firm George Green has hired corporate and commercial solicitor Howard James as an associate from Coventry firm Newsome Vaughan. At the same time, private client assistant Amanda Elwell has also become a member of the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners.
  • Dundas & Wilson partner Paul Graham has been voted legal director of the National Outsourcing Association. He will hold the role for an initial three-year term.
  • Kroll Ontrack has appointed Martin Baldock as director of operations for legal technologies in the UK. Baldock joins from RGL Forensic Accountants and Consultants, where he was director of forensic technology.
  • West Midlands firm Sydney Mitchell has appointed Kamal Majevadia as a partner in its commercial litigation group in Birmingham. Majevadia joins from Ansons, where he was head of commercial litigation.
  • Crutes has promoted three solicitors to its partnership: Tom Whitfield in commercial litigation, David Gibson in employment and Nicola Hyam in personal injury litigation.

  • Ricksons Solicitors has hired Caroline Adamson as an insurance litigation associate in its Leeds office. Adamson joins from Manchester firm MR Negotiators, where she was a senior costs draftsman.
  • BBC Radio 4 presenter Daire Brehan has accepted a tenancy at AM Azhar Chambers, practising in criminal defence and prosecution. Brehan undertook the BVC at the Inns of Court School of law and finished her training as a barrister with a pupillage at 18 Red Lion Court.
  • German firm Graf von Westphalen has hired Frankfurt-based private equity and M&A partner Markus Sachslehner from CMS Hasche Sigle.
  • London-based Royds Solicitors has hired Jim Sawer as a partner in the private client team. Sawer was previously a senior equity partner at Mills & Reeve and head of the private client team at Birketts. He returns to legal practice following a period as a freelance writer/broadcaster.
