Pensions case reconsidered

Leslie Lintott (above) has been appointed managing partner at Penningtons, becoming one of only three women to head a City firm.

Penningtons went through a difficult period in 1995 and 1996, when staff numbers fell from 359 to 279.

“We needed to position ourselves sensibly in the market,” Lintott said. “Some people fitted into the Penningtons future and others did not.”

On succeeding as a woman in a City firm, Lintott warned of exaggerating the difficulties. “There are few women at the top now because in the past there were few coming in.”
