Chris Edwards will join the firm as a partner on 1 November, working alongside John McGeough on the development of the Knightsbridge firm’s commercial property group.
The senior partner at Pemberton Greenish Damien Greenish said the appointment was part of a strategy to diversify the firm’s expertise, which has traditionally been focused on residential real estate landlord and tenant matters.
Edwards has nearly 25 years’ experience at City law firms, including most recently working as the head of the commercial property department at the London office of Charles Russell.
However, extensive restructuring of the firm’s commercial property group resulted in the surprise departure of Edwards in July, when Charles Russell’s two lead real estate roles were merged and Guildford partner Rory Fordyce assumed overall control of the practice area.
Prior to joining Charles Russell, Edwards was at Dechert for 10 years, as both managing partner and later head of the commercial property group.
