Oh, pity the poor souls at Lawrence Graham. During a recent meeting, several of the firm’s long-suffering partners were heard to bemoan their remuneration of £300,000 and upwards.
Rather than complaining of a lack of funds, the sensitive souls were actually debating the burden of not being able to reveal the size of their pay cheques for fear of unsettling their slightly less fortunate clients.
Tulkinghorn isn’t suggesting for a moment that the partners’ pay cheques are less than deserved, but perhaps the decision to discuss such issues in the presence of said clients, not to mention an impecunious journalist, wasn’t the brightest.
