Paul Hastings Janofsky & Walker has named global real estate head partner Phil Feder as head of its London office.

Feder has replaced former office head Mark Eagan, who will now lead the real estate team in the office. Feder officially took up his post on Monday (27 July).

Feder said: “Our strategy is to continue to grow our corporate practice in London. To a certain extent I’ll be playing a role developing our European network and connecting Europe to our US offices.”

Last year The Lawyer reported that Feder moved to London from the Los Angeles office to beef up senior management on the ground in the City (24 March 2008).

London and the European network is a core focus for the US firm.

Paul Hastings chairman Seth Zachary said: “We’ve developed a very strong Asian practice. Now we need to focus on Europe. There are a lot of exciting hiring opportunities in this market.”

Earlier this year The Lawyer reported that Paul Hastings hired a seven partner team from Cadwalader Wickersham & Taft to bulk up its London office (14 January 2009).

Is he talking about London, the UK, Europe? Really? So he thinks it's a good time to start hiring corporate and real estate lawyers.
