Clifford Chance structured finance partner Neil Hamilton is set to join US firm Paul Hastings’ London office.
Hamilton, a partner in the magic circle firm’s international securitisation group, specialises in collateralised bond obligations (CLOs), collateralised debt obligations and other structured products.
Last year he advised lead manager Deutsche Bank and trustee Intertrust on European Capital’s €864m ECAS 2011-1 loan, one of the first public sales of a CLO since the credit crunch.
Paul Hastings confirmed the hire, with Hamilton’s start date planned for 1 October. There are no current plans for any Clifford Chance partners or associates to join him in the move.
His move follows Paul Hastings’ recruitment earlier this year of Ashurst finance partner Ugo Giordano, whose practice also covers structured products (3 July 2012).
Meanwhile, Clifford Chance has seen a small string of partner departures from its broader structured finance practice in the past year and a half, with Rachel Kelly joining Macfarlanes (31 May 2011), Prashanth Satyadeva moving to Berwin Leighton Paisner (11 January 2012) and shipping finance head Simon Lew joining Norton Rose (16 July 2012).
Clifford Chance declined to comment.
