Paul A Jorissen
Paul A Jorissen is a transactional lawyer whose practice is concentrated on representing investment and commercial banks, issuers and borrowers in structuring and negotiating securitisation, covered bond and other financing arrangements in the US and cross-border transactions, including transactions backed by residential and commercial mortgage loans, home equity loans, franchise loans, equipment loans and leases, auto loans and trade receivables.

His practice also includes working with credit default and other derivatives, as well as unusual asset types including defaulted and re-performing loans, servicing rights and servicing advances.
Jorissen has extensive experience in workouts of CDO and CLO transactions, securitised franchise loans and other troubled and non-performing debt.
He has structured dozens of large single seller and SIV-lite conduits and related derivative transactions for leading domestic and foreign originators and repurchase facilities for large real-estate investment trusts.
Jorissen has represented subordinated bond investors and master, primary and special servicers of commercial mortgage-backed securities.
Chambers USA noted: ‘In [Mayer Brown’s New York office], Paul Jorissen is the standout figure for mortgage-backed securities and asset-backed securities, particularly equipment loans and leases.’
Jorissen is both an attorney and a certified public accountant. He joined Mayer Brown in 1993, practising first in the firm’s Chicago office and, since 2001, in New York. Previously, he worked with another prominent law firm in Chicago and as a senior tax consultant with a global public accounting firm.
