Despite the fashion for partner culls, a handful of US law firms are currently battling for the chance to take on a recently qualified lawyer as a partner, recruited via the rather unusual medium of reality TV.
The Partner, a new show to be launched by Fox and Rocket Science Laboratories (creators of Temptation Island and Joe Millionaire) will see recent Ivy League law graduates compete to win the ultimate prize: partnership at a major law firm.
The casting hotline tells potentials: “We’re looking for charismatic lawyers recently admitted to their first US state bar to compete in courtroom showdowns.”
It is thought that the firm which offers the prize will also win the role of acting as legal adviser to the show. Rumours that Clifford Chance’s West Coast office had put its name forward remained unconfirmed at the time of going to press.
