Goodman Derrick has appointed Martin Emmison to its expanding corporate group. Emmison was previously a partner at Rowe & Maw and specialises in domestic and international acquisitions and inward investment from the US. Diane Murphy has left Taylors Solicitors in Blackburn to join Carlisle-based firm, baines wilson. Previously, she has worked for Dibb Lupton after its takeover of Wm F Prior, and Manchester firm, Laytons. Murphy will deal with commercial property and environmental work. She has acted for a number of commercial and residential developers and property joint ventures in the past. Forbes & Partners has appointed five new partners for May. Tim Hollingsworth specialises in commercial property, John Bennett in litigation, Andrew Ellis and Paul Geldard in defendant insurance litigation, Robin Bower in accident and personal injury. The appointments coincide with the move of matrimonial associate Rebecca Schofield to Forbes from rival Blackburn firm Farleys.
