Jeremy de Souza, who has been the lead tax specialist at London law firm Farrer & Co for 25 years, is moving to White & Bowker, based in Winchester, at the beginning of May. A specialist in property taxation, de Souza is the general editor of Land Taxation.
Gouldens has announced the appointment of three partners - James Brokenshire, Mark Emerson and Anthony Manning. Having trained and qualified at Gouldens, Brokenshire has been appointed to the company and commercial department in the firm. Emerson, who also trained and qualified at Gouldens, becomes a partner in the property department. Manning joins him in the property department. The appointments bring the total number of partners at Gouldens to 36.
Birmingham and West Bromwich-based firm Putsmans has appointed Peter Adkins to head its commercial litigation team. Adkins, who is a commercial litigator, joins the firm as a partner and brings over 20 years experience with him.
Manchester law firm Davis Blank Furniss has promoted solicitor Deborah Hely to partnership. Hely, who joined the firm in 1994, is an specialist in employment law. She is also a tutor at the Manchester Metropolitan University and teaches advocacy to trainee solicitors for the Manchester law society. The appointment brings Davis Blank Furniss to 14 partners, following its recent merger with Ashton-under-Lyne firm Rupert Wood & Son.
