City firm Withers recently announced the appointment of four new partners. Roberto Moruzzi, who joined the firm in 1995 after it merged with MacKenzie Mills, and Maggie Stirling, who has been with Withers since her traineeship, were promoted to partners in the firm's litigation department. Also promoted were Jane Dearle and Susan Satchell. Dearle will focus on trusts and estates work while Satchell will specialise in property litigation. Withers now has 47 partners.
Richard Schmidt, formerly a partner at Speechly Bircham, joined Edward Lewis's property department as a partner in April. Schmidt, who specialises in institutional investment, was appointed to develop the firm's property practice.
