Troubled Paris firm Sales Vincent et Associes has lost a partner to US firm Proskauer Rose.
Yasmine Tarasewicz joined Proskauer on 1 April as a partner, taking with her four associates and annual billings in excess of $2m (£1.25m).
Her arrival doubles the size of the US firm's Paris office. Her expertise in corporate reorganisations has earned her a reputation as one of the leading employment lawyers in Europe.
Tarasewicz says: "I am joining Proskauer because the attorneys there share my belief that the next new international product will be labour and employment law."
The defection will come as a further blow to Sales Vincent, which is embroiled in an internal dispute. Partners are split over whether to proceed with an international merger, probably with Denton Wilde Sapte, its alliance partner.
Tarasewicz represents a major victory for Proskauer, which is already one of the most successful employment practices in the US.
Alan Jaffe, chair of Proskauer, says: "Yasmine's addition is exciting for us and for our clients. She is one of the best attorneys in France."
