Paris Smith chief ends 10-year reign

Southampton firm Paris Smith’s senior partner Richard Smith has retired after 10 years at the helm. Nick Vaughan, who specialises in commercial property, lending and ­charities law, replaced him as senior partner at the ­beginning of this year.

Smith specialised in family law for more than 25 years. He took over as senior partner in 2005 and was managing partner of the 190-year-old firm between 1998 and 2005.

During his tenure he saw off some 15 merger approaches. Paris Smith has an annual turnover of £14m and 26 partners.
