KLegal, the law firm associated with top five accountancy practice KPMG, has poached one of London's leading employment lawyers.
Stephen Levinson, who has been a partner at City firm Paisner & Co for 21 years, is head of employment at the firm.
He is the third head of department to join KLegal from a City firm this year.
Levinson will boost KLegal's national employment practice, and will work alongside employment partner Tim Johnson who focuses on international employment issues and does consulting work.
Levinson has worked for clients including National Power, Great Universal Stores and Bedfordshire Police Force.
He says: "I need a change. I have been here a very long time and I am very excited by what KLegal is proposing to do in employment.
"Its plan is to build a 30-person employment team over the next five years, and I don't know many people who are willing to offer me that.
"Its view is that it has a huge client base and it wants to start providing it with more of a service in employment than it has been doing before."
Johnson says: "Stephen is a conventional employment lawyer and he will be developing the UK practice while I develop the European practice with one of the partners in our French law firm, Fidal."
Levinson's arrival at KLegal brings the number in the employment department to seven lawyers, two of whom are partners.
Johnson says he expects that number to double in Levinson's first year, and the firm may take more employment partners from other firms.
Harold Paisner, senior partner at Paisner & Co, says partners Alexandra Davidson and Paul Killen will take over the running of the employment department.
Paisner says he is sorry to see Levinson go, but views his departure as an opportunity for a younger generation to take over in terms employment.
In February, KLegal took Rakisons' high-profile head of telecoms Chris Hoyle (The Lawyer, 7 February), and it started the year by taking the head of projects from Simmons & Simmons, Gareth Davies (The Lawyer, 10 January).
