Partner William Simpson has taken the unusual step of jumping from Guernsey firm Ozannes into the arms of rival Ogier & Le Masurier.
Such a step by a high-profile lawyer is believed to be the first of its kind and has been met with surprise within commercial legal circles in the Channel Islands. Simpson will join founding partner Roger Le Tissier in taking on the management of the 18-partner Guernsey firm. Le Tissier, having founded the firm three years ago, intended to return to client service and practice development for some time. Simpson said: "One factor which attracted me to Ogiers is its attitude towards strategic development. It has positioned itself as specialist commercial lawyers practising international financial law in Jersey and Guernsey."
