Outer Temple Chambers’ Paul Garlick QC has been appointed as an international judge for War Crimes of the Criminal and Appellate Divisions of the Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

The appointment was made by Lord Paddy Ashdown, the former Liberal Democrat leader and High Representative to Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Garlick has been chosen as one of nine international judges to form the new court, which will eventually replace the International Criminal Tribunal for the fomer Yugoslavia (ICTY) in the Hague. Two international judges and one local judge will sit on each judicial panel.

Initially, Garlick’s term of office is two years, extendable for a further two years. He begins his new role on 2 May.
