Chambers managers are meeting monthly with external consultants to look into new business possibilities following the implementation of the Legal Services Act 2007 (LSA).
The chambers will have separate meetings on the LSA, new billing structures and the financial services sector.
Outer Temple commercial director Christine Kings said: “We’ve committed the next 12 months to having strategy sessions with people within chambers and also outside experts.”
The set is looking at the possibility of forming a multidisciplinary partnership (MDP). “I can’t see the members of chambers being anything other than self- employed,” said Kings. “But we’re looking at business models other than ABSs.”
Sabalot will not be based in the chambers. She has run her own consultancy practice ;since ;2005, when she left Landwell, where she was a partner.
Outer Temple switched to a triumvirate management structure last year, installing barristers Richard Lissack QC, Phillip Mott QC and Michael Bowes QC as joint chiefs.
