This year, The Lawyer’s annual ranking of the largest UK law firms by turnover is available as an interactive, digital benchmarking tool. For the first time this will allow you to manipulate each data set against the metrics of your choice.
The new strategic committee is a bit slimmer than before - it doesn’t include representatives from Osborne Clarke’s Dutch and Belgian alliance partners, which eschewed the idea of a merger and have since loosened ties with Osborne Clarke - and a bit more serious. Whereas the old alliance board was all about glad-handing and making sure all member firms were happy with each other, the new committee will be all about “strategy”. Rather alarming, perhaps, that this is only now in the job description.
When news of the mergers first broke, Osborne Clarke managing partner Simon Beswick said the firm had set out its stall to become a European player and aimed to funnel instructions from the US and India. More mergers are likely, according to Beswick, but where and when is still anyone’s guess.
Sounds like the new strategic committee has got its work cut out.
