We’re cutting early and cutting hard.” Nice. Reply Link Anonymous 19 November 2010 at 09:38 I agree with Big Dave – profit over loyalty only brings short term wins. People never forget how they are treated by their employers. Reply Link Hugey 19 November 2010 at 10:31 Get a clue. All firms are the same. Reply Link Honest Dave 19 November 2010 at 11:27 At least they announced these redundancies and made them formal – lots of firms just ‘manage people out’ on the quiet. Reply Link Anonymous 19 November 2010 at 12:08 To Hugey A lot of firms are the same – not all firms are the same – there is a difference! Some still actually value people! Reply Link Hugey 19 November 2010 at 14:10 Name them. I’m sure many readers would be interested to hear. Reply Link Hugey 19 November 2010 at 14:13 Apologies, fair point – I would like to think they are not all the same but you can’t help wondering sometimes… Reply Link Del Boy Trotter 19 November 2010 at 14:26 @12:08 – Apart from possibly Norton Rose, care to name some? Reply Link Hugey 19 November 2010 at 15:03 The Hugey at 2.13pm is an imposter. The Lawyer should compare e-mail addresses before printing. Reply Link Boyd 19 November 2010 at 15:22 Looked on their website where associates are also up. There are 8 partners and 6 associates across London and Reading real estate. After this, there will be 8 partners and 1 associate. Excellent gearing. Reply Link Anonymous 22 November 2010 at 09:17 Oh for god’s sake grow up. Because of the recession, the normal moving on of senior associates did not happen. Thus, the firm now needs to reshape the team to increase the number of junior lawyers and to say good bye to those senior associates who are not going to make it through to partnership. Whilst obviously this is difficult for those made redundant, it is the right decision for the firm and the rest of the the team. In regards to the gearing, the website’s inadequacies means that the figures quoted are wrong. And the real estate sector’s billings is up by a huge percentage over last year!
