Osborne Clarke has paid tribute to senior corporate lawyer Julian Gamble, who was killed in a climbing accident in Nepal earlier this month.
Gamble, who worked in the firm’s business transactions team, was training for his lifelong ambition of climbing Mount Everest.
He joined the firm in 2004 having been a director in the equity division at UBS before qualifying as a lawyer in 1993. He had a broad practice at Osborne Clarke, covering corporate finance, M&A and fund formation.
Osborne Clarke senior partner Tim Birt said in a statement: “We’ll all greatly miss Julian, as will all of the clients who Julian so ably advised and supported over the years.
“Apart from being a gifted lawyer, with a deep technical knowledge, he was a friend, a great character and a member of the team. His personality shone through in all he did. His passion and commitment to work, family and climbing were apparent to all who knew him.
“The number and depth of reactions to the news of his loss from all those who knew him as an esteemed member of this firm has reflected how trusted and admired a lawyer Julian was. Our thoughts and sympathy are with his family.”
