Orrick Herrington & Sutcliffe is aiming to bump up its Washington practice by courting a potential combination with DC’s Swidler Berlin Shereff & Friedman.
According to the Legal Times, the talks between the two firms are still at management level though are thought to have developed past a preliminary stage.
The move would be a significant boost to Orrick’s 50-lawyer Washington office, adding around 177 of Swidler Berlin’s lawyers in the regions as well as bolstering New York with an additional 80 attorneys.
Until now Orrick appears to have been focusing on the West Coast after embarking on two ultimately failed merger discussion with the Venture Law Group and Cooley Godward.
