Orrick Herrington & Sutcliffe is eyeing a Middle East launch with plans for a dual assault on Abu Dhabi and Dubai.
The US firm’s chairman Ralph Baxter, who visited both jurisdictions last month, said: “We’ve been studying the Middle East for some time now. Our strategy has always been to open offices in places our clients and potential clients want us to be. This is why we expanded into Asia and Europe.
“The Middle East is something we’re looking at very carefully.”
Baxter would not give an exact timeframe for the launch, but he confirmed that ;discussions ;were moving along quickly.
“Once you decide you need to be in a particular region, you have to decide on the right way to achieve it,” he added.
