Orrick loses fourth lawyer to Morgan Lewis in a week

Morgan Lewis & Bockius has made a further swoop on Orrick Herrington & Sutcliffe’s US private investment funds practice to take its fourth lawyer in a week.

Gary Herrmann has joined his former colleagues Louis Singer, Jedd Wider and Georgette Schaefer, who also defected to Morgan Lewis from Orrick on 6 February.

Herrmann, a senior tax specialist, joins the Morgan Lewis’ San Francisco office as a partner. Singer, Wider and Schaefer have joined the New York office as partners. Wider was a partner and Schaefer of counsel at Orrick.

Singer, who chaired the private investment funds practice group at Orrick, has taken the same role at Morgan Lewis.

The group advises hedge funds, private equity funds, pension funds and university endowments in fund formations and investments.
